Yes, you need a permit to barbecue. You may barbecue in designated areas within the following parks: Alfred E. Smith Park, East River Park, Highbridge Park, Inwood Hill Park, Marcus Garvey Park, Randall's Island, Riverside Park, St. Nicholas Park, Thomas Jefferson Park, and Wards Island.
