Some more interesting facts about the growth of barbecue over the last few years. This information comes to us from the Kansas City Barbeque Society.

• In 2000 KCBS had 94 sanctioned contests
• In 2001 that rose 11% to 104 contests
• In 2002 we had 116 contests, a 12% increase from the prior year
• In 2003 a 7% increase brought the total to 124 contests
• In 2004 the increase was 21% to a total of 149 contests
• In 2005 we sanctioned 175 contests increasing by 18%
• In 2006 this year our sanctioned total was 223 contests rising 28%
